The Decoder Cards · Your Freedom
Card 7: Mockery Voice
Your Freedom: Is this punishment?
The Pattern: Mimicking you in a mocking tone
What They Say/Do:
- Repeating your words in a whiny, exaggerated voice
- Mimicking your expressions mockingly
- Making your sincere statements sound ridiculous
- Baby talk when you express needs
- “Oh, so now you’re going to cry about it?”
What the Pattern Usually Does:
They’re teaching you that earnestness will be punished. By making you sound foolish, they undermine your confidence in expressing yourself. Over time, you stop sharing how you really feel. Your voice becomes silenced.
How It Hooks You:
You feel humiliated. You start pre-editing your words to avoid being mocked. You become afraid to be sincere or vulnerable. You stop expressing needs because it never goes well.
Your Power Move:
“When you repeat my words that way, it tells me you’re not interested in understanding. Let me know when you’re ready for an adult conversation.”
Then stop talking until they shift. Don’t perform sincerity for someone committed to mocking it.
